Sussex are confident England bowler Ollie Robinson will be fit for their opening match back in County Championship Division One, head coach Paul Farbrace says.
The south coast club won promotion back to the first tier last year and begin the season against Warwickshire at Edgbaston on Friday, 4 April.
Robinson, who has taken 76 wickets in 20 Test caps for his country, had a double hernia operation earlier this year and Farbrace said the 31-year-old was on course to return for the start of the season.
“He’s on the mend and he’s started bowling out in Cape Town,” Farbrace told BBC Radio Sussex.
“I think we’re all pretty confident that he’ll be ready to play at Edgbaston against Warwickshire on 4 April.
“He responded very well. He is on course, but obviously if he’s not quite right for the first game we won’t rush him back.
“But ideally we want him back to spearhead our attack.”
Robinson took 39 wickets in 12 matches with an average of 25.53 last season.
His last England appearance was in February 2024 against India.
