World number one Judd Trump thrashed Shaun Murphy 6-0 as he moved into the semi-finals of the Players Championship in Telford.
Trump, who has already won three events and earned the most prize money in a single campaign this term, reeled off four half-century breaks and a century, to stun Masters champion Murphy who mustered only 40 points in the match.
“Shaun’s been a different animal this season, so when you beat him you take a bit more credit than maybe I used to,” Trump told ITV4.
“He’s an amazing player and to beat anyone at this level 6-0 is incredibly hard.”
Trump will now face Xiao Guodong or John Higgins on Saturday (19:00 GMT).
Meanwhile, Neil Robertson will meet Kyren Wilson in the last four after claiming a 6-3 win over Mark Selby.
While Selby crafted the highest break of the contest with a superb 139 in the second frame, Robertson made the most of his opportunities to lead 3-1 at the mid-session interval.
And the Australian, who has climbed back up the world rankings from 26th to 11th, enjoyed runs of 72 and 98 before sealing his victory with a break of 58.
“There wasn’t a big flurry of breaks in the match, but Mark is someone who is hard to get chances out of,” said Robertson.
“He isn’t going to play loose shots and leave you in the balls, you really need to earn it.
“You need to stand up and be counted [against Wilson], it is as simple as that. He plays very aggressively. I don’t think either one of us will step down at any point in the match, we are both going to really go for it.”
