It is always better to be lucky than good in sport.
When the dominant and normally deadly world No. 1 Judd Trump gets lucky during a snooker match, his opponents must feel like hanging up the cue.
With the match level at 2-2 after Wilson had recovered from trailing 2-0 with breaks of 66, 70 and 58, the fifth frame hung in the balance in the race to five.
The frame ran for an hour following a re-rack before two scarcely believable back-to-back flukes on the green and brown turned matters in Trump’s favour.
After slamming the white at a green from distance in attempting to pot his way out of trouble, the object ball ended up dropping in the baulk pocket via four cushions.

“There is a lot to take in here.” said former world No. 3 Neal Foulds on commentary. “I don’t know how you feel about the fluke if you are Kyren Wilson sitting in that chair. A lot depends on what happens here…”
Trump was snookered behind the blue attempting to hit brown, but came off one cushion at pace before seeing the brown somehow end up rolling down the yellow pocket.
“Well, I know how he feels now, that is tough,” said Foulds with Wilson left in a state of disbelief in his seat. “Goodness me, that is tough.”
It was a pivotal moment as Trump mopped up to move 3-2 clear before breaks of 59 and 63 saw him complete a 5-2 win to reach the semi-finals where he defeated Jackson Page 6-2.
A 10-4 final victory over Ding Junhui saw him claim the trophy and £170,000 winner’s cheque.
“Have you ever seen two more outrageous flukes back-to-back? Extraordinary,” said Philip Studd on Eurosport commentary.
The answer is surely a resounding no.
