Rising star Mirra Andreeva captured the Dubai Tennis Championships title with an emphatic 7-6, 6-1 victory over Clara Tauson in the final. In doing so, the Russian ace became the youngest tennis player to win a WTA 1000 tournament.
The 17-year-old showcased her resilience and superior shot-making to claim one of the biggest wins of her career.
The first set was tightly contested, with both players battling through intense rallies. Andreeva’s strong serving and clutch play in key moments allowed her to edge out Tauson in a tense 7-6(1) tiebreak. From there, the Russian completely dominated the second set, breaking her opponent multiple times to cruise to a 6-1 win.
This triumph marks another milestone for Andreeva, who continues to rise rapidly in the WTA rankings, cementing a spot in the World Top 10.
