THE CAMPBELL siblings, Teniel and Akil, both won the 4k individul pursuit event for elite women and elite men, respectively, when the Trinidad and Tobago Cycling Federation (TTCF) National Track Cycling Championships for Juniors, Under-23s, and Elite continued Thursday night at the National Cycling Centre in Balmain, Couva.
Campbell (T) completed the event in four minutes 55.70 seconds while Campbell (A) took the gold in 4:36.35.
Campbell (T), representing PSL Cycling along with her brother, was also crowned national champion for the elite women’s scratch 40-lap taking the win over Miami Blazers’ Alexi Ramirez.
Campbell (A) couldn’t replicate his victory in the elite men’s version of that race, taking the runner-up place behind Team BSR’s Liam Trepte, while Raiders Cycle & Multisport (RC&M) rider Jadian Neaves finished third. Neaves also captured the under-23 4k crown with his win over Valkyries CC’s Josiah Williams.
Cassidy Samaroo of Madonna Wheelers (6:04.75) and Tristan Jaichan (PSL) (4:18.87) claimed the junior women and men titles, respectively, for that race.
In the keirin event, Njisane Phillip of Just Living Daily (JLD) turned back the clock to claim the elite men’s title over Danell James and Ryan D’Abreau—both of Arima Wheelers—in that order. James claimed the under-23 men’s crown.
And Phillip’s protégé Makaira Wallace, the current world junior double silver medallist, easily claimed the elite women’s Under-23 keirin race from Arima Wheelers’ Alexia Wilson and Madonna Wheelers’ Phoebe Sandy.
Jelani Nedd, representing Team DPS, won the junior men’s keirin from his clubmate Zion Lucas with Evolution Cycling Academy’s (ECA) Javon Ramroop in third.
