BBC pundit Danika Priim has stood down from her role as vice-president of the Rugby Football League after being charged with sexual assault.

The 40-year-old played rugby league for England, Bradford Bulls and Leeds Rhinos women before retiring in 2021 and becoming a leading commentator and analyst for the Beeb, Channel 4 and Sky Sports.

Priim was also elected as an RFL vice-president in September last year, but left her position on Thursday night after Mail Online broke the news of the serious allegations against her.

The RFL said in a statement: ‘The Rugby Football League can confirm that it has been agreed that Danika Priim will voluntarily stand down from her role as RFL vice-president whilst ongoing legal proceedings take place.

‘The Rugby Football League will be making no further comment until completion of the legal proceedings.’

Priim is alleged to have ‘intentionally touched a woman aged 16 or over’ at Horsforth Cricket Club in West Yorkshire on July 22, 2022.
