DeKALB, Ill. – From pregame fun and entertainment in The Yard to an elevated in-game experience to honoring Northern Illinois University tradition and history, service members, NIU staff and more, the 2024 entertainment and promotional schedule for Huskie Football’s six home games offers something for everyone.
THE YARD, PRESENTED BY NUTRL VODKA SELTZER
Before every home game, all fans are invited to The Yard, presented by Nutrl Vodka Seltzer. This free area, located on the West Lawn for NIU’s first four games before moving inside to the Chessick Practice Center in November, is a gathering space for donors, families and fans of all ages.
The Yard opens three hours before kickoff (two hours prior for the indoor yard) with live entertainment, the Kids’ Zone with Huskie inflatables, games and more, food and drink, including beer, available for purchase. The new Huskie Apparel Store will be set up in The Yard with a wide variety of NIU branded gear. NIU student-athletes will be signing autographs and the Huskie Marching Band, cheerleaders, Silverettes, Victor E. Huskie and Mission will come through to stir up Huskie spirit.

2024 FOOTBALL PROMOTIONS & THEMES
Every game in 2024 will be a celebration, beginning with the home opener versus Western Illinois on Saturday, August 31, presented by Old National Bank, as the Huskies kick off the 125th Anniversary of NIU Athletics with Football Champions Weekend. Huskie players from the 2014 MAC Championship team, the 2004 Silicon Valley Bowl team, the 1964 Illinois Intercollegiate Athletics Conference champs and even the 1944 Little 19 Conference team have all been invited back. Fans are encouraged to WEAR RED to cheer on the 2024 Huskies!
The Huskies September 21 Mid-American Conference opener versus Buffalo will be the Huskies “Salute to Service” game, honoring all active duty, retired or veteran military personnel, who can claim tickets to the game at vettix.org. Presented by Kuipers Family Farm, September 21 is also High School Band Day, Family Weekend and Extra Yard for Teachers.
On October 5th, NIU Faculty and Staff are invited to Employee Appreciation Day, presented by Kunes Auto Group, as the Huskie take on UMass. The game is also the annual Pup Club Game with free admission for all 2024-25 Pup Club members, who will then form the pre-game team tunnel. Pup Club registration for youth ages 13 and under is available here.
Homecoming is always a celebration at NIU, which boasts the oldest Homecoming celebration in Illinois, and the 117th Homecoming in 2024 will be no different. NIU takes on Toledo on October 19 for Homecoming, presented by FNBO, and will welcome all NIU Football Alumni, with an introduction of the 2024 Hall of Fame Class, including legendary quarterback Jordan Lynch, during halftime.
The Huskies’ lone home #MACtion weeknight game in 2024 is set for November 13 versus Akron, presented by the Northern Illinois University College of Business. Put on your black Huskie gear for a “Dawgs After Dark” celebration.
Then on Saturday, November 30, be on hand as the Huskies 32 seniors will be honored prior to the 2024 home finale versus Central Michigan as the Huskies send off one of, if not the, largest senior classes in school history.
