Sauber has had a difficult first half of the season. The Swiss team, which has already announced Nico Hulkenberg as its next driver for 2025 while waiting to resolve its reservations about the German’s future teammate currently working for the Haas team, was the only one who failed to obtain points in the fourteen matches played so far in the championship.
Despite the problems encountered along the way, Valtteri Bottas is confident in the recovery of the Hinwil team in the second half of the World Championship which will open on 25 August on the Dutch track of Zandvoort.
“It’s been a challenging year for us – said Bottas, quoted by Formula1.com – We haven’t scored any points yet, it wasn’t the aim at the start of the season. We wanted to see an upward trajectory from last year, and that didn’t happen.”
The Finn then added: “We started the season with a car that wasn’t so easy to set up as well as the pace. Since then we have made some improvements, but more like small steps than big leaps unlike other teams around us.”
The former Mercedes driver, completing his speech, said: “The team has a clear direction, and that is to make the car faster. Much of this obviously comes from the wind tunnel and the design office. In terms of my performance I’m happy, my job for the rest of the season remains to extract everything I can from the package every single weekend.”
