West Long Branch, NJ – The non-conference schedule for the 2024-25 Monmouth University Men’s Basketball season is official, and is highlighted by games against members of the Big 10, SEC, Big East and American conferences.
“We have another tough non-conference schedule this season to get our guys ready for the CAA,” said Head Coach King Rice. “This group has had an incredible summer of putting in work and building chemistry, especially with our trip to Italy. We’re working to hit this challenge head on.”
MU opens at Big 10 member Michigan State, led by Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer Tom Izzo, on November 4, before coming back to The Garden State for the 2024 Jersey Jam, taking on Temple at CURE Insurance Arena in Trenton on November 8. The Hawks return a contest to Northern Illinois on November 12 after topping the Huskies at the buzzer last season in West Long Branch.
Monmouth renews its matchup with in-state foe Rutgers, as the teams will meet on November 15 for the first time since MU topped the Scarlet Knights in 2015. A trip to Wichita State follows on November 18, Monmouth’s first meeting with the Shockers since a win in the 2007 Paradise Jam. A three-day tournament awaits Rice’s squad at Stephen F. Austin, as MU will compete in a four-team field in Nacogdoches, TX featuring the Hawks, Lumberjacks, Presbyterian and Youngstown State.
November concludes with another all-New Jersey showdown, as Monmouth will visit Seton Hall for the third straight season on November 30. December kicks off with a visit to Lehigh on the 4th before a fourth in-state contest at Princeton on December 10. The Blue and White return to the OceanFirst Bank Center on December 21 to face off with Fairfield before the non-league slate concludes with a trip to SEC-member Auburn on December 30.
The CAA announced Monmouth’s opponents last week, which will see MU take on Delaware, Drexel, Elon, Stony Brook and Towson at home and on the road. MU will play Charleston, Hampton, Northeastern and UNC Wilmington at home only and Campbell, Hofstra, North Carolina A&T and William & Mary on the road only. The full league schedule will be released at a later date.
