LAKE CHARLES, La. – McNeese Soccer was narrowly edged out by UL-Lafayette Thursday night in a 2-1 duel in the Battle of I-10 at Cowgirl Field.

The Pitch Side:
• McNeese attempted all six of its goals in the second half.
• ULL attempted 21 shots compared to the Pokes’ six.
• Jackie Kelly earned all nine saves in the match with four in the first half and five in the latter.
• Morgan Fiedler attempted two shots with both on goal, a third of the team’s shots.
• Morgan Schooley, Anouk Linders, and Jackie Kelly are the only three Pokes to play all 90 minutes.
• Both squads were equally matched with three corner kicks a piece.
 
How It Happened:
• ULL netted the first goal of the match in the 18th minute of action, scored by Adeline Nemeth with an assist from Sisley Stephens.
• UL-Lafayette attempted 11 shots in the first half with 10 coming in the latter portion
• The Ragin’ Cajuns scored their second goal of the evening on a goal by Mariella Stephens, assisted by Tatum Beck in the 68th minute.
• The Cowgirls attempted four shots within the final four minutes of the match.
• McNeese scored the final goal in the final minute of play with a corner kick from Morgan Fiedler to Morgan Schooley who scored on a header.
 
Next up: McNeese remains at home to host Jackson State Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. before taking to the road.
