DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman Women’s Golf announced the 2024-25 competitive schedule on Monday, as Head Coach Harry Stokes and the Wildcats will participate in 12 tournaments during the upcoming fall and spring seasons.
Coming off a 2023-24 year in which Katie Robinson finished as the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) individual medalist, and Bethune-Cookman as a team finished second at the SWAC Championships, the Wildcats strengthened during the offseason with the addition of Ashlie Hobbs from the transfer portal. Hobbs, a graduate transfer from Texas Southern, finished fourth overall at the SWAC Championships.
Bethune-Cookman opens the season September 9-10, as the Wildcats travel to the Powercat Invitational hosted by Kansas State in Manhattan, Kansas. Two weeks later, the Cats stay in-state traveling to Jacksonville, Florida, taking part in The Match at the Marsh co-hosted by Jacksonville and Stetson (September 23-24), respectively. The month concludes with the Cats visiting Port Clinton, Ohio, for the second consecutive year to compete in the Rocket Classic hosted by Toledo.
Two events in October see B-CU traveling to the Holy Cross Women’s Invitational (Oct. 22-23) in Worcester, Massachusetts, as well as the French Broad Collegiate Invitational (Oct. 28-29) hosted by UNC Asheville in Arden, North Carolina.
“I’m really looking forward to the fall portion of the schedule, and we’re playing in some great events in some new destinations,” said Stokes, set to begin his fourth season at the helm in Daytona Beach. “We have three All-SWAC players from last year on the roster, along with a wealth of experience in the rest of the lineup. These early season tournaments are a good measuring stick to see where we will need to improve heading into the spring slate.”
The spring campaign opens with the Maroon and Gold kicking things off at the ASU Spring Classic (Feb. 16-17) hosted by Alabama State in Montgomery, Alabama. The following week, the Cats compete in the Babs Steffens Invitational (Feb. 24-25) hosted by Stetson in Debary, Florida.
The month of March sees B-CU travel to Gainesville, Florida, for the Lady Bison Invitational (March 3-4) hosted by Howard. The Oldfield Intercollegiate (March 17-18) takes place in Okatie, South Carolina, while the month ends with the Cats in the Ironwood Invitational (March 31-April 1) hosted by East Carolina in Greenville, North Carolina.
The SWAC Championships take place April 14-16 in Birmingham, Alabama, as the event moves from The Refuge in Flowood, Mississippi.
Meanwhile, the PGA WORKS Collegiate Championship caps off the spring campaign May 4-6 at Whistling Straights Golf Course in Kohler, Wisconsin.
“I think we have a very balanced schedule in the spring,” commented Stokes. “We are going to be seeing some very strong competition, and I think that’s only going to make us better as we prepare for a run at the SWAC Championship.”
