Ronnie O’Sullivan and Judd Trump are both playing exhibition matches in China ahead of the inaugural Xi’an Grand Prix, the snooker season’s second ranking event (19-25 August).
O’Sullivan begins his campaign at the finals venue against world No. 111 Wang Yuchen at 7:30am (UK time) on Monday with Trump opening up against Ma Hailong, the world No. 77, in the second round at 12:30pm having completed a 5-2 win over Antoni Kowalski in qualifying last month.
Meanwhile, world champion Kyren Wilson returns to action against Haris Tahir in his opening match in Xi’an at 3am on Monday with world No. 1 Mark Allen due to face Liu Hongyu at 7:30am.
Trump is looking to continue his impressive start to the season following his maiden triumph at the invitational Shanghai Masters last month that culminated in an 11-5 final victory over Shaun Murphy, a match that saw both men contribute three century breaks.
A number of leading players have been warming up for their trip to Xi’an by competing in lucrative exhibition matches in China over the past few days with Ding completing a couple of wins over O’Sullivan (5-3 and 5-1), Mark Selby overcoming Trump 5-2 and Luca Brecel edging Si Jiahui 5-4.
O’Sullivan, Trump and Si are scheduled to contest another round of challenge fixtures on Friday and Saturday with World Championship finalist Jak Jones making up the four-man event.
