Snooker and Billiards to be Showcased at Inaugural Sikh Games

Snooker, billiards and a range of other cue sports will be showcased at the UK’s first ever Sikh Games in August at Loughborough University.

The World Professional Billiards & Snooker Association (WPBSA) and the English Partnership for Snooker & Billiards (EPSB) will be supporting the UK’s biggest Sikh sports festival which takes place on 16-18 August.

A WPBSA qualified coach will be on hand to deliver coaching sessions during the event and there will also be a panel discussion to raise awareness of various cue sports.

Mandeep Moore, Chair of the Sikh Games, said: “We’re delighted to have the support of WPBSA and EPSB to showcase Cue Sports at the UK’s first Sikh Games. We hope to give the Sikh community more exposure to the game and learn about the different opportunities within Cue Sports. Creating opportunities, education, and awareness is the first step in making this sport more diverse.”

Rohit Sagoo, EPSB Director, said: “As a director of the EPSB, I am immensely pleased to have the WPBSA and EPSB involved in the first Sikh Games in the UK. This will showcase cue sports, including snooker and billiards, in the Sikh community.

“The WPBSA and EPSB will have a coach delivering coaching sessions for snooker during the day and a panel discussion raising awareness of cue sports from a playing, coaching, and referee perspective.”

Jason Ferguson, WPBSA Chairman, said: “We are delighted to be supporting the UK’s first Sikh Games. The continued global and diverse growth of snooker is something that we are incredibly proud of and continue to strive towards. This event allows us an opportunity to continue succeeding in our goal and get even more people playing our sport.”
