The Oakland Athletics are going for the series win against the Toronto Blue Jays this morning at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario. The series is a matchup of the fifth-place teams in the American League East and West. And while the teams find themselves in a similar situation during the dog days of summer, going into the season the teams and their fans had vastly different expectations.
JP Sears will take the mound for the A’s today. The 29-year-old lefty enters the game with a 9-8 record and a 4.35 ERA in twenty-three starts this season. Sears will face 35-year-old righty Chris Bassitt who starts today with a 9-10 record and a 3.95 ERA, also with twenty-three starts on the season.
