CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College football held its first full-pad practice of training camp in practice No. 7. The Eagles were outside and under the lights on Chamberlin Field with a night practice on Saturday evening.

Practicing at golden hour, replicated the night game as BC played just yards away from the Chestnut Hill Reservoir and beneath the backdrop of the Prudential Center and Boston’s skyline in view beyond the east end zone. The energy was high as drills led to seven-on-seven series and ultimately the first full-pad team sessions of camp.

DAY SEVEN DETAILS
Date: August 10
Location: Chamberlin Field
Weather: 84, sunny/clear

Offensive Highlights: Returning leading rusher Kye Robichaux got off to an early start with several rushes into the second level. Quarterback Thomas Castellanos completed a first-down pass in stride to Lewis Bond, the Eagles’ top returning receiver. In 7-on-7 work, Castellanos found Reed Harris for a touchdown pass. Grayson James threw two TDs in 7-on-7 with a one-handed grab by freshman tight end Danny Edgehille and another to Jayden McGowan. Redshirt freshman running back Datrell Jones used the lead block of classmate offensive lineman Ryan Mickow for a rumbling run up the middle.

Defensive Highlights: Donovan Ezeiruaku’s night started with a chase down tackle of Castellanos to hold the QB to no gain. Defensive end Edwin Kolenge and linebacker Owen McGowan contributed to stuffing the run early in the team sessions. Victor Nelson nabbed an interception in 7-on-7. Ezeiruaku’s quickness off the ball was on display with a sack from the right edge and he and Neto Okpala later teamed up for a sack.

Two-Minute Drill: The defense held the offense to a 50-yard field goal attempt as the clock ran out on the first two-minute situation. In the final series, James completed a fourth-down pass to tight end Jeremiah Franklin to extend the practice. The duo hooked up again to set up first-and-goal. After a timeout, Luca Lombardo hit a 21-yard field goal as time expired.
