The future of Valtteri Bottas is still to be written. The Finn has in fact stated that his plans are not yet completely clear, as he will have to discuss with the new head of the Audi project in Formula 1: Mattia Binotto.
The former Ferrari team principal, who ended his long experience in red at the end of 2022 by being replaced as head of the Cavallino Sports Management by Frederic Vasseur, returned to the Circus in what represented a real managerial earthquake for the company of the four rings with the farewells of Adreas Seidl and Oliver Hoffmann and the arrival of Binotto.
Among the issues that Binotto will have to face – the Italian-Swiss engineer was not the only new face at Audi which also revealed the name of Jonathan Wheatley as the next team principal – there is also the driver issue. To date, the only certainty in the 2025 line up bears the name of Nico Hulkenberg, who will complete the season in Haas before returning to Hinwil.
“It will restart the talks a bit, because previously we were in contact with Seidl and Hoffmann and now it’s up to Binotto,” said Bottas, quoted by Formula1.com, chatting with the media during the Spa meeting that preceded the break summer.
The Finn, continuing with his thoughts, added: “It will certainly change some things, so we need to talk. It’s a bit of a complicated situation, we’ll see.”
