The Opposition

Kent have picked up four points from their opening five games in the Metro Bank One-Day Cup, with wins coming against Hampshire and Lancashire.

Italian international, Grant Stewart, is Kent’s leading run-scorer in the competition, with 148 across four innings, while he is also joint-top of the wickets charts, alongside Matt Parkinson and Beyers Swanepole, with eight dismissals.

Pre-Match Talk

Daryn Dupavillon admits the defeat to Hampshire last time out was a frustrating one, but believes a win against Kent would put the team in a good position.

Derbyshire are one of four sides locked on six points in Group A, with Mickey Arthur’s side only outside of the top three on net run-rate, having won four of their six games so far.

With two games left to play, and a place in the knockout stages up for grabs, Dupavillon says Hampshire deserved their win earlier this week, but the Derbyshire squad will be under no illusions as to what is needed on Friday.

“I don’t think Hampshire got too many too many but maybe 15 to 20 runs too many. Our goal is always to have the other team 250, wicket dependant, and we maybe leaked a few too many in the back end – but I think the boys bowled well for long periods of time.

“We still felt we could come out and get it, and we have enormous faith in our batting order and we bat really low.

“We felt we could chase it but when you see Mo Abbas and Kyle Abbott come out and bowl like that they show why they are two of the best bowlers on the county circuit.

“It was good to watch as a bowler but sad for Derbyshire. It means we have to go to the next game and win it to secure a spot in the knockouts.”
