IT’S all been kicking off in the velodrome this evening – with Scotland’s Jack Carlin at the centre of the drama.
The Paisley cyclist is a previous Olympic bronze medallist in the individual sprint who is one of the top medal contenders again.

But he found himself eliminated then reinstated in the course of feisty quarter final against Kaiya Ota.
The quarter finals take part in a best of three format, but the two men locked in all THREE of the races.
There was contact between the two men in the first race, which saw Ota fend off a charge from Carlin to reach the finish line first.
And the elbows flew again in the second sprint of the three, which Ota again won – only for Carlin to get RE-INSTATED by the officials for contact by the Japanese rider.
There was further drama in the third race of the three as again there was contact between the two riders.
There then followed a nervous wait for Carlin before he could take his place in the semi-final but again the judges ruled in his favour so he lives on to battle for the medals in the last four.
The semi-finals and finals of the event now take place tomorrow afternoon and evening.
Only a couple of days ago Carlin and Team GB had to settle for silver in the team sprint for a second successive Olympics as a their Dutch rivals smashed the world record.
Qualifying for the final with the second fastest time behind the Netherlands, Team GB had hoped to go one better than four years ago.
Only a couple of days ago, Carlin was the star turn in a three-man team also featuring Ed Lowe and Hamish Turnbull which finished second to the Dutch trio of Van den Berg, Lavreysen and Hoogland.
Sir Bradley Wiggins’ financial issues
Carlin said: “I’m feeling really really good. As a team we came and delivered.
“It’s the best we could have done on the day.”
