Olympics LIVE: Team GB go for sailing and cycling medals before Noah Lyles and Matthew Hudson-Smith return to track

Josh Kerr claims silver in 1500m race beating Ingebrigtsen in a shocking finish

The Olympics continues with Team GB’s focus remaining on the track at both the athletics and the cycling on day 12 of Paris 2024.

Matthew Hudson-Smith’s form in his 400m semi-final marks him as a gold medal contender ahead of tonight’s final at the Stade de France, following memorable medals for Keely Hodgkinson and Josh Kerr over the past two nights.

Great Britain have also made a great start in the velodrome and can add further success this evening in the team pursuit. The men’s team will face Australia for gold later, and the women’s team led by Elinor Barker will try to match them this afternoon.

Last night, American Cole Hocker stunned world champion Kerr and reigning Olympic champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen to win a sensational 1500m gold, while Dina Asher-Smith and Daryll Neita missed out on a medal in the women’s 200m final by the barest of margins.

This morning, golf resumes Le National as the women’s strokeplay competition gets underway. Charley Hull and Georgia Hall lead Great Britain’s bid for gold, but the favourite is the world’s best player this year: USA’s Nelly Korda.

Olympics 2024: Cycling – women’s kierin repechage

Katy Marchant is in the repechage of the women’s Keirin.

She goes immediately to the back of the pack, is that too far?

She goes with two laps to go, she has to go around the outside.

Marchant goes to the front with one lap left, but can she hold on, she does!

Marchant finishes in second place to go through to the next round while everyone else aside from the top two is knocked out.

Olympics 2024: BMX park men’s qualification

Andy Macdonald is the last skater left to go in the final prelims round.

It’s his third and final run, what can he produce here?

He does the fakey 540, Tony Hawk is celebrating on the sidelines.

The crowd are all on their feet, he takes the yellow helmet off and punches the air, it’s his best score but a 77.66, it will put him in 18th place.

He looks happy with that. Only the top eight qualify for the Olympics and he is a long way off that.

Olympics 2024: BMX park men’s qualification

Andy Macdonald has nailed this round, it might not be enough to get to the final, but it’s very impressive from the 51-year-old.

He fell on the final trick last time, but he has not put a foot wrong this time around.

There was one tick he didn’t quite get all the way round on.

It’s going to put him in 18th, with a score of 76.61.

The judges are not popular with that score, there are some boos from the crowd.

Olympics 2024: Sailing – men’s dingy final – RACE ABANDONED

This is unbelievable! Micky Beckett was in a strong position in the sailing final, he was going well and was about to round the second mark in at least second place.

But the race has been abandoned because of light winds!

Everything had been going right for him to be able to claim a silver medal, but all of that hard work has been undone.

Olympics 2024: Sailing – men’s dingy final

Almost everything happened on the first lap, one of the boats capsized completely.

Micky Beckett looked to be raising a protest as he was beaten around the second mark at the end of the first lap by the Hungarian boat.

It will be up to the judges to decide whether he was impeded or not.

He is still in with a good chance of securing a bronze medal however.

Olympics 2024: Sailing – men’s dingy

Micky Beckett might have been able to capitalise on some penalties at the start for other boats, but he got caught up.

With all the riders choosing their lines, he has found himself in eighth place, but there is still a way to go in this contest.

The boats are just being held behind the line, but the delay might not be as long as first feared.

The sailors have waited for so long for this race which should have happened days ago but they were waiting for the right conditions.

The boats all bunched up in line waiting for the chance, and they are now underway!

Olympics 2024: Cycling – men’s sprint

Turnbull was the seventh fastest qualifier, less than two tenths of a second separated these two riders.

Turnbull is happy to start behind the Chinese rider, and with one lap to go he tries to launch his way past, it was close until turn four, but the British rider has booked his place in the next round.

He won by 0.071 seconds. These heats are just getting closer and closer.

He joins Jack Carlin who had already booked his place in the next round with ease.
