NAPLES, Italy – The West Virginia University women’s basketball team collected its second win in as many days following a strong offensive showing, outpacing Naples Selects, 132-61, on Friday.
The Mountaineers opened the game on an 18-0 run and never looked back, leading 41-13 after the opening quarter. WVU’s lead swelled to 51 points, 78-27, at halftime. West Virginia outscored Naples Selects 24-19 in the third, breaking the century mark on its final possessions of the quarter. WVU added 30 points in the fourth to collect a 132-61 victory.
Seven Mountaineers finished in double-figures, led by junior guard Sydney Shaw who finished with 21 points. Senior guard JJ Quinerly and junior guard Jordan Harrison scored 19 points and freshman guard Destiny Agubata added 18. Freshman forward Jordan Thomas scored 15 points and senior forward Kylee Blacksten and senior guard Zya Nugent each scored 12 points.
Quinerly finished with a team-leading nine assists. Senior guard Kyah Watson filled the stat sheet with nine steals, nine points and seven assists. Agubata recorded a team-leading six rebounds.
The Mountaineers are back on the court on Tuesday when they take on ZKK Buducnost. The game will be played in Dubrovnik, Croatia at 5 a.m. ET.
