Where to Watch/Listen: Horse Racing Coverage July 31-Aug. 4

8

The upcoming week in North American horse racing promises plenty of excitement, with graded stakes scheduled at Saratoga Race Course each day from Thursday, Aug. 1 through Sunday, Aug. 4, the induction of a fine 2024 class to the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame on Friday, Aug. 2, and the pièce de résistance, the $1 million, Grade 1 Whitney Stakes, set for Saturday, Aug. 3. That 1 1/8-mile test is a “Win and You’re In” Challenge Series qualifier for the Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic Nov. 2 at Del Mar and drew a well-matched 12-horse field.

Meanwhile, at the Breeders’ Cup host track, another “Win and You’re In” prep is scheduled for Saturday: the $400,000, Grade 1 Clement L. Hirsch Stakes Presented by Oak Tree Racing Association. That race is also held at 1 1/8 miles and is expected to attract some of the top dirt route fillies and mares on the West Coast vying for a bid in the Longines Breeders’ Cup Distaff Nov. 2.

A third Breeders’ Cup prep will be run overseas on Wednesday, July 31: the Qatar Sussex Stakes for turf milers as part of the boutique Glorious Goodwood meet in England. That race is a qualifer for the FanDuel Breeders’ Cup Mile Presented by PDJF.

Racing from Saratoga is showcased on “Saratoga Live” Wednesday through Sunday on FOX Sports, highlighted by three-hour national FOX broadcast on Saturday – check the below schedule for this week’s channels and times. The Qatar Sussex Stakes will be shown live Wednesday morning in the U.S. on FS2.

FanDuel TV is the go-to network for comprehensive Del Mar coverage, and will also present live racing from tracks including Gulfstream Park, Ellis Park, and Woodbine as part of its daily package.

Horse racing from tracks around the world is available to subscribers on Racetrack Television Network (RTN), which can be livestreamed on all devices (computer, tablet and smartphone) and on TV via DISH Network, Amazon Fire and Roku.
