Michael Barclay wins Bruce Johnstone Trophy

Bruce was a long-time club member, committee man and raconteur who is fondly remembered by those he knew, and this event honours his memory.

After fighting their way through qualifying rounds Michael and Darren squared off on Monday, July 22 in a best of three frame format final.

Darren claimed the first frame quite comfortably, but Michael roared back in the second to set up a winner take all decider.

Michael displayed his typical cool demeanour to hang tough and eventually took out the match when potting the final blue and pink.

Congratulations to both players on making their respective ways to the championship decider and playing out a close and entertaining match.

Wednesday evening social night specialists Kevin Young and Michael “he’s everywhere” Barclay monopolised the contests of July 17 and 24.

Michael took out the competition over Kevin on July 17, but Kevin turned the tables on Michael the following week.

The rest appeared to be making up the numbers given their domination over this reporting period.

Congratulations gentlemen very well played.

ClubMulwala Snooker Club members Mia Macheda and Marg Conomy participated in the Australian Women’s Snooker and Billiard championships that were held in Melbourne over July 13 – 15.

Marg and Mia and represented the snooker club admirably and thoroughly enjoyed participating in this national level event, which provided sensational experience for them both going forward in their cueing careers.
