POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Caitlin Bacon, of Stratford, Connecticut, was hired as an assistant athletic trainer at Marist College in the summer of 2024. She will serve as the athletic trainer for women’s soccer and men’s lacrosse.
Before joining Marist, Bacon served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she also earned a master’s degree in exercise science. In this role, Bacon was assigned to the women’s volleyball and women’s lacrosse teams and provided supplemental coverage for intramural and club sports events. She conducted preseason concussion baseline screenings and pre-participation screenings, and created short- and long-term rehabilitation plans for acute and chronic injuries, as well as post-surgical patients.
Prior to attending UNC from August 2022 to May 2024, Bacon earned a Bachelor of Science in athletic training from Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts. In 2021, she was a recipient of the NATA Research and Education Foundation Scholarship.
Bacon spent the previous three summers as an athletic trainer at the Berkshire Soccer Academy in East Otis, Massachusetts. There, she provided care for girls aged 8-16 and camp staff, conducted pre-arrival health screenings, and ensured the safety of all campers and staff. She was also responsible for communicating with parents, camp staff, medical staff, and outside providers to ensure comprehensive care.
Bacon has received various forms of training and earned several certifications, including CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, CPR certification, Youth Mental Health First Aid, BOC Certified Athletic Trainer, Bloodborne Pathogen Training, and Airborne Pathogen Training.
