Celtic’s second round League Cup tie against Hibs will take place on Sunday 18 August with a 3pm kick-off time and the match will be shown live on Premier Sports 1.
TheRangers v St Johnstone game, which will be played at Hampden as Ibrox is currently unfit for purpose, will take place on Saturday 17 August with a 5.45pm kick-off slot and that tie too will be live on Premier Sports 1.
All other ties will be available online through the Premier Sports streaming service or with the purchase of a 48-hour Matchday Pass from the subscription based broadcaster who are also the new sponsor of the League Cup.
This of course means that Celtic will take on Hibernian on two Sundays in a row, with our first away match of the new season taking place at Easter Road in Sunday 11 August. That’s the game that Hibs have cut our allocation for, another club preferring empty seats to paying punters as Scottish football continues to eat itself.
Then it’s the League Cup match the following Sunday, 18 August, this time at Celtic Park and there’s little chance that Celtic will restrict the Hibs allocation for the game and quite rightly so. The most annoying aspect of that reduction is that it is somehow linked to the disgraceful chanting from theRangers support and the latest Ibrox club has had a similar allocation cut.
Imagine if Hearts fans caused trouble at Celtic Park and as a result our club decided to reduce both the Hearts and Hibs allocations. They would be up in arms. There is no Old Firm, it died in 2012 when Rangers FC went bust.
