GOLDEN, Colo. – Max Lange and Lukas Taggart have picked up more post-season honors, this time being named Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
Both golfers were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team earlier this summer, and Taggart went on to receive Academic All-America honors. Both are rising juniors majoring in mechanical engineering.
Lange, a native of Golden, was a Second-Team All-RMAC selection averaging 72.55 in 2023-24. The co-medalist at the Centennial Cup, Lange was even or under par in four of 11 tournaments and recorded four top-10s and seven top-25s as a sophomore.
Taggart, from Washoe Valley, Nevada, earned First-Team All-RMAC and First-Team Academic All-RMAC honors shooting a team-leading 71.72. He ended the season ranked #69 in Division II after notching four top-10s and three top-5s. He qualified for the NCAA West/South Central Regional, and was par or better 21 times in 32 rounds. Taggart has qualified for the 124th U.S. Amateur at Hazeltine in mid-August.
To be eligible for Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically. They must participate in 50 percent of their team’s competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 78.0 in NCAA Division II, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at their college or university.
