Sports and recreation are for everyone. However, it is not always easy for individuals with disabilities to access the resources needed for play. Huntsville Parks and Recreation is working to change that with this weekend’s Disability Sports Expo.
Hosted in partnership with the newly-formed North Alabama Adaptive Sports Coalition and UAH Ability Sport Network (UAH ASN), the free expo is open to people of all ages with a disability, as well as their families.
Participants can meet local recreation leaders and try a variety of adaptive sports, including rock climbing, boccia, wheelchair basketball and seated volleyball. There will also be adaptive bikes, trikes and sports wheelchairs for use, courtesy of Rocket City Adapted Athletics, Rocket City Trikes and UAH ASN.
