Torri Huske (USA) shocked the world, besting world-record holder Gretchen Walsh (USA), 2023 world champion Zhang Yufei (CHN) and Tokyo 2020 champion Maggie Mac Neil (CAN) in the women’s 100m butterfly final at Paris La Defense Arena on 28 July.
Huske claimed the gold medal with a time of 55.59, passing Walsh in the final metres. Walsh finished in second, grabbing the silver medal with a time of 55.63. The bronze medal went to Zhang Yufei with a time of 56.21.
