USMNT Clears Major Hurdle for Signing Gareth Southgate & Other Top Coaches, Insider Reveals

The hunt to fill the vacant managerial position left by Gregg Berhalter continues for the USMNT. Since their tragic exit from Copa America 2024, the Star and Stripes are eager to find the man to lead their Golden generation to glory. While prominent names like Gareth Southgate and Jurgen Klopp have been linked to sit on the forsaken boss chair, financial constraints were reminded to the US Federation to sign such big guns. However, that is the least of their concern as an MNT insider revealed that ‘Money is not an issue.’

The revelation from this insider was exclusively shared by ESPN journalist Jeff Carlisle, who reported that the next USMNT manager will be earning lofty wages that can go as high as seven figures. Furthermore, Carlisle says that the ‘vibe from within the federation is that there is a will and way to making it happen, with the sponsorship option the most likely.’

The journalist further revealed that USMNT is ready to pay a significant amount to see the new potential head coach lead the men’s team. “Money is not an issue. USSF can make it happen. Just have sponsors fill any shortfall. It’s like colleges pay a base salary and then have outside sources do the rest. Not complicated,” claimed the high-level federation source.

Seems like the US Soccer Federation is ready to go all-in to find a desired manager and isn’t taking things lightly this time. Of course, greater things come at a certain price, and the Eagles’ desperation to become the best would certainly make them pay a fortune. Though the perks of being the USMNT manager look intriguing, the question is which manager are they targeting to break the bank for?

Potential managers who will earn the lucrative contract for the USMNT job!

Jurgen Klopp was among the highly-rated names to lead Christian Pulisic and Co. In fact, just hours after sacking Gregg Berhalter, USMNT even made their first move on the German tactician. However, Klopp rejected their advances, as he looks to carry forward with his managerial sabbatical after just leaving the Liverpool job. With USMNT not interested in playing the waiting game, their attention has turned someplace else:

Gareth Southgate

It hasn’t been a month since Gareth Southgate left England after his 7 years of service. Now, seeing the Englishmen flirt with the USA job sounds weird, given that he recently endured another disappointing run in the Euro 2024. However, things may turn out pretty well for Southgate if he wishes to live the American dream.

Patrick Vieira

Patrick Vieira has often expressed interest in coaching the USMNT since last year. The Arsenal legend closely follows the team and his recent admission to join the Yanks, reported by Fabrizio Romano, came just two days after his early departure from Strasbourg.

Thierry Henry

Another French and Arsenal legend on USMNT’s radar, Thierry Henry, is currently leading France U23s in the Paris Olympics 2024. Though his forgettable experience leading Monaco and Montreal Impact might give the US second thoughts, the fact that he has experience working as an assistant under former Belgium and current Portugal boss Roberto Martinez does make the case for him.

The rest includes the likes of LAFC boss Steve Cherundolo, former Chelsea, Tottenham and PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino, and ex-Saudi Arabia and French WNT coach Herve Renard. Who knows, there might be many more names that USMNT is planning to sign.
