They have a talented goalkeeper in Ashleigh Johnson and an overall excellent offense that looks unstoppable.

Yuto Horigome of Japan kept the gold medal in his home country, and will look to become a back-to-back champion. Medalists Kelvin Hoefler and Jagger Eaton are also back to try and better their second and third-place finishes from three years ago.

MEN’S SOCCER

New Zealand vs. United States

Time: 1 p.m. ETWhere: Marseille Stadium (Marseille, France)Channel: USA NetworkStream: FuboTV (Free Trial), Peacock, Sling, DirecTV Stream

In their first Olympic match in 16 years, the Americans fell flat on their face against the hosts France this past Wednesday. They were hanging in there for over an hour against the favored French, but the Yankees surrendered three goals in the final 30 minutes. A loss early on gives the U.S. little room for error in their final two matches.

The same cannot be said for New Zealand. The Ferns got off to a good start against Guinea, picking up a 2-1 win. Matthew Garbett and Ben Waine picked up the goals for New Zealand, with Waine’s winner coming in the 76th minute.

This is not South Africa’s first trip to the semis at the Olympics. In the first tournament in 2016, the country ended up clinching the bronze medal.
