The runners with experience look less than bombproof. All of the debutantes have respectable credentials, most notably SAARISELKA whose trainer is operating at a high strike-rate with 2yos this season. Bintjan, an interesting Tattersalls Book 1 purchase, is the suggested second choice. The market signals should offer further guidance.
The two best options may well be top and bottom of the card, with bottomweight TACTICIAN (nap) preferred after his close call over 1m6f here last time but topweight True Legend looking dangerous given how he came from right out the back in the Northumberland Plate. While Attila The Honey has more to prove regarding stamina, she should at least go very well for a long way judged on her front-running win over 1m5f last week. Zoran should not be far away.
Several runners have solid recent form and look appealing. Slight preference is for ZOUZANNA, who is on an attractive mark and returns to the scene of her last success. Red Maids, another interesting 4yo filly, is second choice narrowly ahead of the 3yos Amsterdam and North View.
They come at this from all angles in a fascinating field. WONDER KID is the one with solid 1m4f handicap credentials and a progressive profile, but Mutaawid (second choice) put his best foot forward in sparkling style when fitted with the first-time blinkers at Kempton and his fellow handicap debutant Hosaamm could be open to the most improvement.
There are other options which make some appeal but BALTIC may well extend his unbeaten record in handicaps to five wins, judged on the authority with which he scored last time. Individualism has been a slow-burner in comparison but the move up to 1m3f worked a treat last time and there is obvious scope for better still at this trip given the stamina shown by most of his siblings. Assail might be able to reverse Kempton placings with Waxing Gibbous to emerge best of the rest.
The shortlist is headed by APEELING and Boadicia. The selection holds strong claims on the form of her Windsor novice win, while the second choice is open to further progress back at 5f. Noel Fox and Persian Blue are other 3yos who may have more to offer.
