Originally hailing from Portland, Ore., Merz returns to the west coast after playing three full seasons at Long Island where she was constantly in the rotation for the Sharks. Merz appeared in 92 matches and racked up 1,311 assists during her impressive tenure in Brooklyn. In 2022, she led the team with 562 assists and 6.04 assists-per-set, both marks that ranked fourth in the Northeast Conference (NEC).

Merz made a huge impact on the defensive end with 139 digs that season and enjoyed a masterful performance in the season opener, recording a career-high 46 assists and 15 digs. She was named to the NEC Commissioner Honor Roll three times during her time at Long Island, proving to be a standout off the court as well.
