MEN’S AND WOMEN’S TENNIS NAMED ITA ALL-ACADEMIC TEAMS

TEMPE, Ariz. – The IU Indy men’s and women’s tennis team were both named All-Academic Team by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). Along with the team honor, 13 individuals earned the Scholar Athlete title.
 
In 2024, 1,573 Division I women’s student-athletes were named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, and 255 women’s tennis programs were awarded the All-Academic Team distinction. On the men’s side, 1,059 Division I Men’s student-athletes were named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, and 176 men’s tennis programs were awarded the All-Academic Team distinction.
 
To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, one must have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year and be listed on the institutional eligibility form.
 
To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale), all student-athletes included should be listed on the institutional eligibility form, and all varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year.
 
While each team earned All-Academic, the women’s team had five athletes earn Scholar Athlete honors and the men’s team had eight athletes earn the title.
 
On the women’s side, Emma Dell, Gabby Orlando, Grace Lampman, Jordyn Pax and Sofia Castillo all earned Scholar Athlete. On the men’s side, Eli Mercer, Emil Jankowski, Kamil Kozerski, Luka Rodic, Nate Day, Noah Viste, Steven Paz and Will Thurin were named Scholar Athlete.
