Pepperdine baseball head coach Tyler LaTorre announced his support staff for his inaugural season at the helm on Friday afternoon.

Collectively, LaTorre’s coaching staff has 17 years of coaching experience with 21 players drafted in the MLB.

LOGAN ROBBINS

“Logan comes to us from Notre Dame and has such a vast knowledge of recruiting and developing. I can’t wait to see Logan dive in and develop elite-level hitters. In the short time that we have gotten to know each other, Logan and I have already aligned our goals for the program and are ready to elevate Waves Baseball.” – Head coach Tyler LaTorre

Robbins joins Pepperdine after two years at Notre Dame. During his tenure with the Fighting Irish, the team broke a school record for home runs with 87 in a season and led the nation in fielding percentage with an impressive .985. His first year on staff, the 2023 team went all the way to Omaha, ending their season at the College World Series. Notre Dame had two players drafted in the 2024 MLB draft in the 5th and 8th rounds.

Prior to Notre Dame, Robbins was at Old Dominion for seven seasons. Power is Robbins specialty and in 2021, Old Dominion finished second in the country with 105 home runs only to be upstaged by themselves the following season, hitting 128 home runs, finishing third nationwide. His team also finished in the top 15 among all teams in home runs per game, scoring, and slugging percentage.

The 2022 offense saw three players hit above .300, led by Matt Coutney’s .376 average, who was later drafted by the Los Angeles Angels in the 10th round of the 2022 MLB Draft. He was joined by Andy Garriola, who led Robbins’s offense with 80 RBI and 25 home runs and was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 17th round.

Before Old Dominion, he spent the 2015 season at Kentucky Wesleyan College where he helped lead the Panthers to a 32-18 record. His offense led their league in batting average, slugging percentage and on-base percentage.

Robbins spent his collegiate years playing at Western Kentucky University and was a 10th round draft pick by the Atlanta Braves in 2011.

Dane StankiewiczDANE STANKIEWICZ

“Adding Dane Stankiewicz from UCSD was a huge step for our program. He had a great career playing at Grand Canyon prior to getting into his coaching career. Dane brings a youthful energy that our players will love. Being the son of distinguished Pepperdine alum, Andy Stankiewicz, Dane has the pedigree and the lineage of forging his own path in the college coaching arena.” – Head coach Tyler LaTorre

Stankiewicz comes to Pepperdine from UC San Diego. As an assistant coach, Stankiewicz helped the Tritons to a combined 64-41 over two years, including going 38-22 in conference.

Prior to joining the Tritons, Stankiewicz was an assistant coach at Saddleback College in 2022, helping the Bobcats to an Orange Empire Conference (OEC) title.

Cam RetainedCAMERON ROWLAND

“Cameron is a rising young star on the pitching development side. He has the knowledge and the communication skill to develop our pitchers each and every day. He has already made an impact on our program in recruiting this summer and will continue to grow deeper relationships with our returning pitchers, along with increasing his role amongst a Pepperdine Coaching staff as a leader on campus.” – Head coach Tyler LaTorre

Joining the squad in 2022, Rowland is entering his third season as the pitching coach, previously under the direction of head coach Rick Hirtensteiner prior to the 2025 season. Before joining Pepperdine, Rowland was the pitching coach at San Francisco State for two seasons (2019-21), though the 2021 season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In each of his seasons, the Gators were among the league leaders in earned-run average, ranking third in 2020 and third in 2019.
