An Olympian himself multiple times with two Gold Medals in his trophy cabinet, Andy Murray confirmed he made it to Paris in order to start a new tournament where he will compete in singles and the doubles categories. Murray will play alongside compatriot Dan Evans in the doubles category, who is also part of the Great Britain contingent. As soon as he arrived in Paris, Andy Murray wrote the following message: “Arrived in Paris for my last ever tennis tournament Olympics Competing for have been by far the most memorable weeks of my career and I’m extremely proud to get do it one final time!”
This means that the Scotsman will play the very last Olympic Games of his career, and his very last major tournament for that matter. He is set to retire at the age of 37, following suit with contemporaries of his like Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer. Murray was also part of the mixed doubles category but he will no longer compete because compatriot Emma Raducanu withdrew from the Olympics.
