Having come away with a subsequent winner at Brighton and finished a clear second in a competitive Chepstow handicap last time, LADY WINGALONG (nap) gets the vote, with Luna Magic the pick of the likely bigger prices. Last-time-out winners Gilt Edge and Letter Of The Law have inexperienced jockeys up (two rides and one ride respectively).
A tough race to call, with several potential improvers, and it may be that SIOUX WARRIOR can find enough to get off the mark after wind surgery and a break. State Of Madness appeared to produce better than expected on debut and is respected along with Caribbean Wind, last-time winner Shibuya Storm and Canon’s House.
Unexposed 3yo Miss Monte Carlo made a very promising start to her career on Polytrack in January but this turf/handicap debut comes after a 134-day break and preference is for DANCE TIME, who made a very encouraging seasonal debut on turf last month and may now resume the progress she made on Tapeta in the autumn. Chicago Gal won on Monday and consistent maiden Maritime Lady is also likely to feature.
Dream Voyage sets a fair standard on her debut Newmarket third, but that didn’t look the strongest of maidens and it took a knock when the runner-up finished well held at a short price last Friday. She’s entitled to improve and isn’t taken on lightly but TROPICAL HEAT is a likely looking newcomer for a trainer enjoying a decent spell with juveniles.
A few are high in the weights now, with the two last-time-out winners Bama Lama and Notre Maison having career-high marks to overcome, but GREATEST TIME has been heading the other way and has shown enough of late to suggest he can take advantage of a further 2lb drop. Secret Handsheikh (second choice) is another with claims.
Most of this field arrive with something to prove, including the selection KURIMU who won last time and has to prove she can back that up. Headgear may help with that and she is taken to defy a 2lb rise. High Violet has shown enough to suggest that she can take a hand, while a line can probably be put through the latest effort by Mullins Beach, who could also be involved. A check in the market is needed for any confidence in Queen Maker.
