National tennis grant helps renovation efforts for Janet Jopke Courts

BAY CITY, Mich. – The Janet Jopke Courts at Richard Shaw Park have received a facelift.
The Bay Community Tennis Association recently raised nearly $85,000 to go towards the renovations. A portion of the funds came from the U.S. Tennis Association, which provided a $35,000 grant as part of a new program launched last year in honor of tennis superstar Coco Gauff’s win at the 2023 U.S. Open.

The U.S. Open Legacy Initiative is committing $3 million to refurbishing public tennis courts across the country and the BCTA was one of the first recipients of the grant.
