Former President Donald Trump held up his end of the golf match deal.
Only he didn’t play alongside Joe Biden – who he was running against for the presidency when this video was recorded. Trump teamed up with the reigning U.S. Open champion Bryson DeChambeau for a special round of golf that recorded and posted on the professional golfer’s growing YouTube channel.
Trump and DeChambeau did something called the “Breaking 50” Challenge, where they scrambled from the very front tees and attempted to take less than 50 strokes to play 18 holes. With the par being 72, they were trying to shoot 23-under-par, and that’s difficult to do even from the shortest yardages.
And they promised to donate $10,000 to the Wounded Warrior Project for every stroke they shot under par, which Bryson explains in the beginning of the video. He also took time to clarify that he reached out to both political parties about joining the special golfing episode, and Trump was the only one that agreed. Bryson also stated this was about giving money to a good cause more than anything else:
“To be clear, this is about golf and giving back to our nation’s veterans, not politics. A few weeks ago I reached out to both parties’ presidential campaigns and Donald Trump was down for the challenge. It is an incredible honor to be able to enjoy a round of golf with any sitting or former president, and all have an open invitation to join me for a round of Break 50 anytime.”

With them choosing the best of each other’s shots, obviously Bryson’s were used more often. But the 78-year-old Donald Trump held his own, and was an absolute driving machine. I’m not sure he missed a fairway the entire time, and that’s a pretty impressive feat considering he had the cameras right on him.
And after an early hole in the round, where Trump actually hit it closer to the hole than the LIV golfer, Trump had a few choice words for the current president:
“You think Biden can do that? I don’t know. We had an argument about golf, can you believe it?”

He’s got the game to back up the trash talking.
Eventually, Trump and Bryson together scorched the beautiful course and shot a 50 – one stroke shy of their goal. And the former president rolled in the clutch putt at the last hole to get them to the 22-under mark. It was pretty impressive:

And in the end, they raised $22,000 for the Wounded Warrior Project.
So though the duo didn’t reach their goal, everyone still wins since they were able to help such a tremendous organization. If you have some time, I’d definitely check out the entire video below so you can see that Trump wasn’t bluffing when he said he had a good golf game:
