Seven Limerick GAA clubs are set to receive funding between one to three thousand Euros in funding through the Local Disability Sports Fund Grant from the 2023/2024 Sport Ireland Dormant Accounts
This initiative aims to assist clubs’ disability supports across the 26-county region.
The Gaelic Games Associations have announced the 112 clubs who have been allocated the Local Disability Sports Fund Grant from the 2023/2024 Sport Ireland Dormant Accounts.
A total of seven clubs from across Limerick City and County have been successful in applying for the grant which seeks to support the development and delivery of disability sport at a local level or within a club environment.
This initiative aims to assist clubs’ disability supports across the 26-county region. As an integral part of this year’s National Governing Bodies Dormant Accounts funding call, the funds are geared towards empowering clubs affiliated to the GAA, LGFA and Camogie Association.

Limerick’s clubs set to receive the funding are Limerick City-based CLG Na Piarsiagh, and County Limerick clubs Croagh/Kilfinny Camogie Club, Galtee Gaels LGFA, Killeedy GAA, Newcastle West GAA, Oola LGFA and GAA Club, and Parteen/Meelick GAA, Camogie & LGFA Club.
The funding is designed to assist in the provision of inclusive programmes and supports for people with a disability. Funding can support new inclusive initiates and/or those already established in Gaelic Games clubs. Clubs could apply for funding of between €1,000 and €3,000 to support any or all of three areas as part of the initiative.

These areas include; Disability Supports Education & Training; Disability Supports Programme Activation and Delivery; and Disability Supports Small Scale Equipment and Infrastructure.
A total of 112 clubs across the country have been awarded a total of €317,291 in Phase 1 of the initiative with phase 2 set to take place later this year.
