Women's Tennis Earns ITA All-Academic Honors

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee women’s tennis program earned nine All-Academic awards today, per the release from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) on Monday morning. 

Current players Alessia Truden, Hrudaya Shah, Ilaria Sposetti, Karen Yibirin, Lena Peyer, Lilly-Sophie Schmidt, Rutuja Chaphalkar and Sana Garakani each received Scholar Athlete honors. The program also earned the All-Academic Team award.  

“I am proud of the hard work these ladies gave in the classroom,” Head Coach Tayo Bailey-Duvall said following the ITA’s announcement. “It is super important to me that they not only have success on the tennis court, but also in their academics. We study areas that we are passionate about and hopefully continue after our college years. I am proud to be their coach and look to continue our team’s tradition of academic excellence.”  

Per the ITA, to be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, one must meet the following requirements:
