TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Former Indiana State standout sprinter Noah Malone qualified for his second straight Paralympic Games following a strong showing at the US Paralympic Trials. Team USA’s official selections, which included Malone, were announced Sunday.

Malone will compete in the T12 classifications of the 100m and 400m dash, and could also be included in Team USA’s relay pool for the universal 4x100m relay in Paris. He ran times of 10.56 in the 100m and 49.91 in the 400m at the US Paralympic Trials Friday and Saturday in Miramar, Florida, and has positioned himself to be among the medal contenders in Paris. Following the Paralympic Trials, Malone is the world leader in the T12 100m and he also ranks in the top 10 in the 400m. In addition, Malone is the world leader in the T12 200m dash, but that event will not be contested in Paris.

Malone will look to build on his 2020 Paralympic Games performance, which saw him win one gold and two silver medals. He claimed gold as part of Team USA’s universal 4x100m relay, while earning silver in both the T12 100m and 400m dash. Malone’s 100m time from the US Paralympic Trials is faster than what he ran to earn silver in Tokyo. He owns the Paralympic records in the T12 100m and 200m dash, while also holding the American record in the 400m dash.

Malone was a five-time All-MVC performer at Indiana State, earning all-conference honors in the 60m, 100m, 200m, 4x100m relay and 4x400m relay. He was a part of half of Indiana State’s top 10 4x100m relay teams in program history, and also ranks among the best in school history in the 60m, 100m and 200m dash. Malone played a significant role in Indiana State’s current run atop the MVC, as he was a part of back-to-back indoor and outdoor conference titles. He also reached the NCAA East Preliminary round in three straight seasons for the Trees (2021-23).

Malone becomes the fourth current or former Indiana State student-athlete to earn a spot for Paris 2024, with three Sycamores set to compete in the upcoming Olympic Games. Current Indiana State assistant track and field coach and former All-American thrower Erin Reese will represent Team USA in the hammer throw, Former Sycamore All-American thrower Mary Theisen-Lappen will represent Team USA in weightlifting, while current Sycamore swimming and diving student-athlete Chloe Farro will represent Aruba in the 50m freestyle.
