Three horses entered in Saturday’s Grade 2 Jim Dandy worked at Saratoga on Sunday morning.

Fierceness, winner of the Florida Derby (G1) but unraced since finishing 15th in the Kentucky Derby, breezed four furlongs on the main track in 49.61 seconds, 63rd fastest of 135 at the distance.

“Excellent. It went very well,” trainer Todd Pletcher told the New York Racing Association media team. “A nice easy half-mile in 49 and change, he looked good.”

Sierra Leone, second in the Kentucky Derby and third in the Belmont Stakes, breezed four furlongs on the dirt training track in 49.73 seconds for trainer Chad Brown, 17th fastest of 27 at the distance and surface.

NYRA clockers caught the Gun Runner colt in an opening quarter-mile of 25.25 seconds before galloping out in 1:02.68, 1:14.93, and 1:28.92.

“He did super. He’s in a nice rhythm,” Brown said. “He’s been working solo on the training track – I’m liking it. He galloped out with good energy. That’s just what I’m looking for six days out.”

Also working Sunday ahead of a start in the Jim Dandy was Ohio Derby (G3) winner Batten Down, trained by Bill Mott. He breezed five furlongs in 1:01.66, third fastest of seven at the distance.
